The job, start to finish.
An emergency call has two jobs and they run in that order: stop water entering the house, and record what happened before the evidence is under a tarp. Skipping the second one is how a legitimate claim becomes an argument three weeks later.
Most emergencies are not a hole in the roof. A section of ridge lifts in high wind, a tree limb opens a run of shingles, a valley backs up and pushes water sideways under the course above it. Once water is inside, the damage moves faster than the roof does, and getting it dry matters more in that first day than getting it perfect.
How It Works
Free inspection
A roof cannot be judged from the ground, and plenty of them turn out to have years left. The visit costs nothing either way.
The claim, if there is one
A carrier pays against a scope written in its own estimating format, so that is the format the damage has to be documented in. Somebody here does that full time.
Scope and color
You get a written scope before anything starts, and color boards go up against the house rather than being chosen from a brochure.
Tear off and rebuild
The old roof comes off, the deck gets inspected while it is visible, and the new system goes on. Most single family roofs are one or two days.
Permits and inspection
Our office manager handles permits and the city inspection. It is administrative and it is the part that quietly goes wrong when nobody owns it.
The magnet pass
Drive, lawn and beds, checked before anyone leaves the site.
The Difference
The part that decides how it goes.
The permanent repair comes after, once the roof is dry enough to work on properly and the scope is understood. Rushing that part is how a temporary fix quietly becomes the permanent one.

Emergency Repair, answered.
Water is coming in right now. What do I do first?
Get something under it and get anything valuable out of the way, then call. Photographs of water actually coming in are worth taking while it is happening.
Will a tarp hurt my claim?
No, and failing to mitigate can. Policies generally expect you to stop further damage. Photograph what is there before it goes under a tarp.
How long can a tarp stay on?
It is a temporary measure and it should be treated as one. Sun and wind degrade it, so the permanent repair should follow rather than wait indefinitely.
