The job, start to finish.
Metal is the right answer more often on part of a roof than on all of it. Porch roofs, bay windows, dormers and the low-slope sections that shingles were never designed for are where it earns its cost, and a metal accent against an asphalt field is a common and deliberate combination here rather than a compromise.
Standing seam hides its fasteners under the seam, which is what makes it last, because exposed fastener panels fail at the fastener long before the metal itself gives up. Every screw through a panel is a hole with a rubber washer in it, and rubber washers have a shorter life than steel.
How It Works
Free inspection
A roof cannot be judged from the ground, and plenty of them turn out to have years left. The visit costs nothing either way.
The claim, if there is one
A carrier pays against a scope written in its own estimating format, so that is the format the damage has to be documented in. Somebody here does that full time.
Scope and color
You get a written scope before anything starts, and color boards go up against the house rather than being chosen from a brochure.
Tear off and rebuild
The old roof comes off, the deck gets inspected while it is visible, and the new system goes on. Most single family roofs are one or two days.
Permits and inspection
Our office manager handles permits and the city inspection. It is administrative and it is the part that quietly goes wrong when nobody owns it.
The magnet pass
Drive, lawn and beds, checked before anyone leaves the site.
The Difference
The part that decides how it goes.
Metal handles hail differently rather than better. It dents where a shingle bruises, and a dented panel is usually still watertight, which makes a metal hail claim a cosmetic-versus-functional argument. That distinction is worth knowing about before the adjuster raises it.

Metal, answered.
Is metal noisier in rain?
Over a decked and insulated attic, far less than people expect. The barn roof reputation comes from panels fixed straight to open purlins with nothing underneath.
Will hail dent it?
Large hail can, yes. A dent is usually cosmetic and the panel stays watertight, which is exactly where a metal hail claim gets argued.
Can I put metal on part of my roof?
Yes, and it is common. Porches and low-slope sections are where it makes the most difference.
