The job, start to finish.
Almost every pitched roof in this part of Texas is asphalt shingle, and the meaningful choice inside that is between a standard architectural shingle and an impact-resistant one. Impact-resistant shingles are tested by dropping steel balls on them, graded from Class 1 to Class 4, and Class 4 is the one worth knowing about in a hail market.
The trade-off is real in both directions. A Class 4 shingle costs more up front and many Texas carriers discount the premium on a roof that has one, so the arithmetic depends on your policy rather than on the shingle. It is a question to ask your agent before you choose, because the discount is not automatic and it is not universal.
How It Works
Free inspection
A roof cannot be judged from the ground, and plenty of them turn out to have years left. The visit costs nothing either way.
The claim, if there is one
A carrier pays against a scope written in its own estimating format, so that is the format the damage has to be documented in. Somebody here does that full time.
Scope and color
You get a written scope before anything starts, and color boards go up against the house rather than being chosen from a brochure.
Tear off and rebuild
The old roof comes off, the deck gets inspected while it is visible, and the new system goes on. Most single family roofs are one or two days.
Permits and inspection
Our office manager handles permits and the city inspection. It is administrative and it is the part that quietly goes wrong when nobody owns it.
The magnet pass
Drive, lawn and beds, checked before anyone leaves the site.
The Difference
The part that decides how it goes.
We install Owens Corning as a Platinum Preferred contractor, which is their top tier and governs which warranty options are available on the finished system.

Shingle, answered.
Is a Class 4 shingle worth the extra cost?
It depends on your policy. Many Texas carriers offer a premium discount for one, which changes the arithmetic considerably. Ask your agent what yours would give you before you decide.
How long does a shingle roof last here?
The rated life assumes ventilation is working and hail does not intervene. In north Texas hail is usually what ends a roof rather than age.
Can I match my existing shingles for a repair?
Sometimes. Colors are discontinued and weathered shingles no longer match new ones exactly, so a repair on a visible slope is worth discussing before it happens.
